Lords of the American electronic underground, Lazer Sword aka Lando Kal and Low Limit, drop a heavyweight debut album. Over the last two years their presence on the influential Beat Dimensions series and individual solo records for Numbers and the excellent Innovative Leisure label have cemented their reputation as ones to watch. That all pays off with their full-length premiere, 15 tracks of dynamic hiphop and electro featuring MC guest turns from Turf Talk, M. Sayyid, Zackey Funk Force and Myka 9. As it goes with electronic HipHop, there's always a production duo whose chops are just a head beyond the rest of the game, and these guys are right there. With considerable dexterity 'Lazer Sword' switches between electro-funked dancefloor tracks such as the uptempo, glitchy sound of 'I'm Gone', the Cybotron styles of 'Machine' feat. Zackey Funk Force, and the mid-tempo swagger of 'Def Work', to crispy neck-snappers like the slouchy-but-kinetic opener 'Tar' or crooked Hyphy on 'I'm Gone' with Turf Talk. Fans of The Glitch Mob, Modeselektor, Machine Drum or Phon.O should get it while it's hot!
