Sam Meringue aka Matrix Metals aka Explorers aka Flashback Repository aka Wingdings, inhabits his Outer Limits Recordings guise again following a mental LP for Not Not Fun. His head is in some late night cable channel zone for this one, paying tribute to the zonk box on 'I Need My TV' via the medium of hypnagogic soft rock romance, and sounding like a less sly Ariel Pink in the process. Of course there's loads of gunky FX, but overall the effect is unnervingly lucid. On 'Burnin' Through The Night' we're introduced to some alcoholic TV presenter type before a crimpin' bit of warbly '80s dance pomp that'll stick in your head like a fungal ear infection. Class A B-grade pop. So good...
