**Upfront exclusive!** Another pseudo-chart hit from the parallel '80s universe of Daniel "OPN" Lopatin and Tigercity's Joel Ford, aka Games! It's definitely about time for another session from this duo because we've already worn out the first 7" at the Boomkat yacht moored on the ship canal. 'That We Can Play' beefs up the aesthetic of their debut disc with a more heroic feat of FM pomp and fractal boogie created in their studio/den somewhere in Brooklyn, this time joined by Chicago's Gatekeeper on remix duties and the extraordinary talent of Laurel Halo on vocals. Laurel's canny Kate Bush approximation on 'Strawberry Skies' beautifully enhances the strutting, cod-mystical Far-Eastern pop vibes from Lopatin and Ford, setting an emotive agenda for the woozy chromatic blur of 'MIDI Drift', the duo's current calling card. On the coked-up buzz of 'Planet Party' shoulder-coordinating syn-drums dredge false memories of LA power plays by keytar-wielding stallions, before 'Shadows In Bloom' envisages Fancy's lost fantasy project tapes with Jan Hammer from 1987. Perhaps most striking is the pneumatically fit remix of CFCF's Peter Gabriel-esque 'It Was Never Ment To Be', whilst Gatekeeper's straight-to-VHS version of 'Strawberry Skies' takes Halo and co into a surreally screwed simulation of Hellraiser. We're gonna have to see someone about our Games addiction... Very highly recommended!
