khora - Silent Your Body Is Endless
Silent Your Body Is Endless was released in an earlier form via a private press CD edition last year, but this new version for Constellation comes "re-sequenced, re-mixed and re-mastered" for the Canadian label's Musique Fragile series (alongside works by Nick Kuepfer and Les Momies De Palerme). Khora is the solo guise of Toronto's Matthew Ramolo, who single-handedly creates remarkable instrumental soundscapes that combine acoustic and electric instrumentation with field recordings and very organically realised digital processing. The two lengthy bookending tracks are especially formidable works: 'Natura Naturans' runs through passages of maudlin bowed electric guitar and chiming bells, establishing a real sense of mood and place before concluding on a succinct melodic sequence, while 'One Is The Other' continues with some more bell tolls, this time layering them into a harmonious yet ever so slightly ominous network of muffled pitches and foreboding percussive elements.
