pvt / dorian concept - Light Up Bright Fires (Dorian Concept / Nathan Fake Mixes)
Heavyweight remix session for PVT, turning over two tracks from their 'Church With No Magic' album to Dorian Concept, Nathan Fake, Danimals and Seekae. Their original 'Light Up Bright Fires' lends a visceral start to proceedings with clamorous drums and a jaw-clenching, serrated synthline (perhaps FX laden guitars?) with an urgent pop sensibility akin to HEALTH. In sharp contrast, Nathan Fake finds a body-friendly swung-techno groove topped with pastoral synth shapes and hotly tipped Scottish band, Seekae remakes it as a slowfast Post-Rock techno number, strongly reminding of TVO's sound. Next, Dorian Concept renders 'Window' with a subtly complex showcase of spectral electro-acoustics, sounding like a symphonic collaboration between Mount Kimbie and Radiohead. Highly impressive.
