Heading up the latest Firecracker treat is DJ/Producer Vakula. His tracks have already graced esteemed imprints such as Uzuri and Meakusma but we reckon this is easily his very finest material to date. There's a real sense of psyched narrative structure despite the EP's brief length; perhaps it's due to the inclusion of his super low-slung intro and skit track, or his deft touch for Theo P-style mixing trickery, but whatever it is, it's got us hooked by the cheek. All the DJs must check for the cruising Detroit beatdown of 'Black & White', or those predisposed to properly laidback vibes will fall mad-deep into the rich atmospheres of 'You Can Do' and the smoky jazz tangibility of 'Different Tone'.
