duane pitre - Origin
This striking new Root Strata release was made exclusively via the bowed strings of Duane Pitre's 'Harmonic Guitars', which are explained as: "unconventionally strung electric guitars (utilizing multi-unisons) tuned to intervals corresponding with the Harmonic Series, a.k.a. Just Intonation." The resultant set of compositions avoids effects or post-processing, instead relying on the natural timbral phenomena associated with the harmonic interplay between the strings. The 'Sun AM' and 'Sun PM' pieces are especially warm, brimming over with vibrating energies, while elsewhere 'The Carpenter' proves to be more challenging in its use of close intervals, creating phasing effects with its clever interplay between harmonics. Often beautiful, but seldom easy-going, Origin gives an unvarnished insight into the incredible properties of the vibrating string.
