A beautiful follow up to the first Beaterblocker compilation, assembling an unusual yet complementary array of artists including Nite Jewel, Es and Keith Fullerton Whitman, taken from the worlds of modern classical, avant-garde electronics and synth pop. KFW makes a sublime start with 'Long Strings For A Darkened Room' developing a blurry mass of plugged-in, widescreen drones with stirring harmonics reminding of Stars Of The Lid. Next, Es charm with the meandering pastoral synths of 'Ennen Oli Huonommin' and Eluvium offer the grand keys and modern classical arrangement of 'Defibrilator'. We last heard from Julia Holter on the Monika Enterprise comp '4 Women No Cry' and she gives a typically hushed lo-fi performance with 'Why Sad Song?', contrasting nicely with the more poppy bedroom disco of Nite Jewel's instantly infectious 'Another Horizon'. Just lovely
