oneohtrix point never - Scenes With Curved Objects
Few other contemporary kosmische operators have managed to straddle the fine line between sarcasm and heartfelt emotional bliss like OPN. We suspect there may be some degree of sardonic delivery behind the cod-academic title of 'Melancholy Descriptions Of Simple 3D Environments', but far from being an academic synth exercise, it's a beautiful example of OPN's freeform wandering approach, creating a boiling ocean of fluidly morphing pastoral ambience sounding like the feedback from Hans Joachim Roedelius' cryogenic freeze tank 100 years into the future. (What was originally) the other side of the cassette, features the sophisticated dinner party ambience of 'Adagio In G Minor' (weirdly reminds us of the vodka drinking ladies scene from Tim & Eric), before drifting into pastoral synth baroque sequences assembled from live recordings and finally to a mutilated loop edit of some unfortunate Ariel Pink style MOR done in a very V/Vm style. Special.
