akitsa - La Grande Infamie
Originally released in 2005, La Grande Infamie is an early dose of Akitsa's chilingly bleak brand of black metal. Laced with feedback and high end fizz, tracks like 'Magie Et Verites' punish the ear in all the right ways - and there's no shortage of proper, fist-pounding sonic harshness on show here (check out the double-time frenzy of 'Cultes Vertueuer', for example), but that other great black metal discipline, sinister ambience, is doled out in good measure too. In addition to the doomy unpleasantness of 'Le Rite Des Cavernes', you'll encounter the death-folk ditty, 'Chthonos', but both these bad-vibe miniatures are outgunned by the twenty-one minute slow-mo supernova of 'Foret Disparue'.
