Choice, twenty track collection of 'Ultra rare Black Rockers From The 50s and Early 60s' selected by Keb Darge and Little Edith. As legendary digger, Keb Darge, explains in the liner notes "I honestly got bored with funk after so many years with no good new discoveries. In contrast there is a wealth of great tunes from the late forties to early sixties which have had no real exposure in clubland", manifesting itself in some seriously infectious and groovy underground dancefloor joints. Of course, Mods have been checking this stuff for decades, but Mods are a world unto themselves and this stuff is still a revelation to the casual listener. Just check the driving rhythms of Teddy McRae & His Orchestra on 'Hi-Fi Baby' or the jump-up styles of Little Ike with Jimmy Beck & Orchestra on 'She Can Rock' and this will probably become your favourite new party album - until someone spills a class of wine on it when they're knocking out a drunken twist! Recommended!
