luke abbott - Honeycomb EP
Border Community's Luke Abbott teases his racks of hardware into four fancy positions for the 'Honeycomb EP'. Much like his label mates Nathan Fake and James Holden, Abbott has a sharpened melodic sensibility just shy of Kompakt-worthiness on the title track, but mixed with an English eccentricity that at times makes 'One Hundred And Thirteen' sound like a Ghost Box release gone techno. Meanwhile, 'Present' is an unnecessary chiptune jaunt that's been done a trillion times before and 'Schmitt Swell' puts his boxes to task on a beatless mutant noise arrangement with nods to the Radiophonic Workshop lot.
