Some call it Disco, some call it Boogie, henceforth all will now call it 'Lagos Disco Inferno'. 12 smokin' rarities from Nigeria, dating from 1976 to 1982, compiled by Frank Gossner (aka DJ Franc O, Soulpusher) of Voodoo Funk fame. Surprisingly familiar, yet intriguingly unknown, these tracks sound just as fresh today as they did 30 or more years ago. 12 tracks rife with horns, moog and bells and whistles to keep you up all night. Great liner notes by Dean Disi (journalist and former executive of TYC Records, Lagos) and a special message from extreme record hunter Damian Iwuagwu (Lagos). Following in the footsteps of amazing African re-issues of late such as Ofege's 'Try And Love' (Academy), Pax Nicholas And The Netty Family's 'Nateef Know De Road Of Teef' (Daptone), and the mammoth 'Ghana Special' set (Soundway), this album stands clear as the first compilation to focus on African Disco. But you won't hear any cheesy strings or nasty Roland synths - this is straight up tough Nigerian Disco Funk, restored with loving care and presented in limited luxury edition gatefold sleeve double vinyl and slick digipak CD.
