tunng - Sushimi / Hustle (Surehand Mix)
A fine ambassador for the band's much-evolved sound, 'Sashimi' captures Tunng at their most absorbing and angular, breaking free of their folksy heritage with an almost Dirty Projectors-like approach to rhythmically peculiar, rather experimental song construction. The band fuse interlocking, math-pop guitars with fanciful vocal interludes and bleeping synths in an abundantly tuneful fashion, sounding like a reinvented and rejuvenated prospect by comparison with their pre-And Then We Saw The Land material. On the B-side you'll find a nicely fiddly electro-funk overhaul of 'Hustle' by remix competition winner, Surehand.
