With his album now deployed, Scuba exercises some limber techno muscle with two tracks under his Scb moniker. The last time we heard him in this mode was on the brilliant 'Hard Boiled' remix, a real modern classic of the Berghain canon. With the A-side he balances thudding kicks with deft EQing and sprightly Rob Hood styled hi-hats while nautical dub-tech synthlines swirl and suck heads under. It's no anthem business but works as a really great scene setter. On the flipside he works within a dubbier tech-house framework, driving a swung sub-bassline under a dryly groovesome rhythm reminding of Ben Klock's constructions.
