Hermutt Lobby are a Belgian consortium of beat makers with a small but perfectly formed catalogue of releases for the electronica/instro-hiphop labels Confined.be and Thin Consolation. This latest 12" for Eat Concrete, their first in some 2 years sees the troup advance their production levels and squeeze in more squelch-funked ideas than ever before with five tracks that will call to mind the elasticated wrong-riddims of Rustie, crunched 8-bit botherations of Dorian Concept or the future electro-jams of Funckarma. We can't get enough of their old-skool Mantronix infected 'Rock The Bell' on the A-side, knocking up a neck snapping head nodder with a woozily inebriated swing, or 'Vampire Remix', tackling Shadowhuntaz original with a fervent glee and replacing Funckarma's Skam-goth vibes with a more friendly electronic brew. 'Play' on the flipside is also worth a mention for all the electronica heads, sounding like a mash of Team Doyobi and Dabrye with bumptious bass lead hiphop rhythms fried in live electrical current with head fucking potential. Phat and intuitive electro-hop jams for fans of Skam records looking for a 2009 update. Heavy.
