When you get the likes of Virus Syndicate and Milanese inhabiting the same twelve inches of vinyl, you know there's going to be some agro. When they're uniting as one incendiary force, it's all hands on deck... So fierce it could blister your decks, 'Dead Man Walking' sees the Manchester grime merchants Virus Syndicate ploughing their glottal stops straight into the digital-spasms of Warp bloke Milanese - with the ensuing barrage both utterly overwhelming and gleefully spastic. Sounding like a Digital Hardcore broadcast being corrupted by a raw pirate station, the union could easily have descended into chaos were it not for the proponents evident respect for one another and the undoubted talent on show. With gnarled dubstep bass buffeting up against digitally f*cked beats, and the spit-flecked delivery of the Virus boys 'Dead Man Walking' is a rough diamond that will come as a sonic balm to anyone who seeks the more abrasive things in life. Backed up by the similarly fervent 'You Can't Remix', there's also a stunning Distance mix of the title track to keep you occupied - sounding like you've wandered into a solar battlefield mid campaign. Nasty sh*t.
