christoph de babalon - Scylla & Charybdis Miniatures
Berlin's legendary Christoph De Babalon explores the nether regions of mutant doomstep. Inspired by the mythical Greek sea monsters of the title, this 2008 album sees De Babalon in a darkened condition, summoning abyssal sub-bass, hugely impressive 3D horror sound designs and fierce D'n'B and dubstep rhythms. It's the considered cinematic qualities and abstracted isolationist feel that elevates CDB's music way outside of the typical darker-than-thou rave dungeons, combining the subtlety of Thomas Koner or Lustmord with complex rhythms reminiscent of Venetian Snares or Christoph Fringeli at his best. A must check album for those of a dark and broken disposition - Highly Recommended!
