kumisolo - My Love For You Is A Cheap Pop Song
Casio-clutching pop minstrel Kumisolo collaborated with like-minded electronica producers for this amiable long-player (namely Domotic and O. Lamm), and a great deal of fun it is too. Not too far away from the electro-savvy Scando-pop you'd hear from the likes of Robyn and Annie, Kumisolo's music puts an extra technicolour slant on the genre, mixing in a spot of tweeness and a big dollop of cutesy charm. Skirting around being excessively kitsch, uptempo numbers work very nicely, and 'Danse Music' is an especially catchy, well-conceived affair with a great descending melody. Even the slower tracks seem to pack a punch, with the snappy emoting of "Earth' breaking up the album's sugary temperament to great effect. Other notable tracks include a cover of The Waitresses' 'I Know What Boys Like', which is sure to raise a smile or two, plus 'Nasty Boy' which is as refined an example of Kumisolo's discoid confectionary as you'll find on the record.
