bvdub - No Turning Back
Brock Van Wey coaxes his synths into action for four tracks of stirring dub-techno emotions. In typical style, his dub-lumbering rhythms are made lush with expansive, analog-rich synth-washes and well placed chord sequences designed to lull dancers into his somnambulent groove. The longest, and by turns our favourite of the set, has to be 'Remembering To Forget', which adds a virulent acid line to the usual formula with great success, while 'Never Enough' comes over a little too Hybrid, and 'Don't Look Back' loses itself in a haze of smudged Detroit/Berlin styles.
