the advisory circle - Mind How You Go (Revised Edition)
*THE ADVISORY CIRCLE'S HAUNTOLOGICAL CLASSIC - NOW EXPANDED WITH BONUS TRACKS AND RE-WORKINGS* In addition to the seven tracks from the original 3"CD we get nearly a whole side's worth of exclusive compositions including remixes from Belbury Poly (aka label head Jim Jupp) and Seeland (aka ex-Broadcast and Plone band members) housed in a proper full colour sleeve and printed inner. The Advisory Circle is marked in the register as Jon Brooks. His Ghost Box sound falls somewhere between the frothy fractals of The Focus Group and Belbury Poly's synth-lush imagineering, executed with the same set of radiophonic principles and guided by the ghostly resonance carried over from sci-fi TV programmes like the Quatermass experiment and decades of dusty library music. A krautrock-extended version of the title track opens proceedings, giving a gently motorik drive to the fluttering electronic sequences and giving a nod to the parallels occurring within German synth muzik in the late 60s/early 70s. Meanwhile the sublime 'Nuclear Substation (Public Information Film)' perfectly captures the sense of foreboding and intrigue conjured by the government's parental warning systems. Both the remixes are dealt with admirably by their designers, treating the material with white gloves and tongs to give alternate visions of the same electronic dreams. Unfortunately the milk and sports biscuits don't come included. Wonderful.
