Curated by Gilles Peterson, Bubblers Three delves into a variety of different genres without sounding scattershot in its selections. Bullion kicks off the compilation with a big, booming beat and instrumental hip hop stylings you're likely to associate with the likes of Flying Lotus and Dabrye. Next comes a fairly radical transition to Joey Negro And The Sunburst Band's 'Turn It Out', which begins with some great sampled orchestral tones only to drop some jazzy wah-wah funk shapes as the track settles down. Further in, you'll encounter Euro-exotica from Juke on 'Something Important' and some old fashioned soul from Yaw. More explicitly jazz-oriented sounds arise towards the end, with Emantive's loungey 'Turn The Lights On' and Arun Ghosh's 'Aurora', which weaves in a helping of Eastern influences into its swingtime structure.
