thomas brinkmann - Walk With Me
The erstwhile techno minimalist returns with three jaunty, pop-edged pieces of brilliance for Curle Records. Title Track 'Walk With Me' starts with a throbbing bit of tongue-in-cheek EBM, keeping the martial rhythm almost comically stern and rigid while a cartoonish melody spurts off at angles to soften the blow. The stealthily hypnotic 'Rumpf' follows with a classic exercise in streamlined reduction, reminding of his classic releases for Profan or Wolfgang Voigt's Studio 1 releases, before the odd flavour of 'Cheap Little Rat' hits home with craftily mutating technoid programming gradually revealing the many sides of this geodesic prodcution. Smart 12"!
