Another charm offensive from Dominick Fernow on his Hospital Productions imprint, The History Of Aids is a tour de force of harsh noise and power electronics. This record takes its form somewhere in the interplay between high frequency squeals, gasping, visceral vocals and demolition ball distortion. Lacking the kind of immersive sound designs that tend to colour digitally-generated/processed noise music, The History Of AIds is the sound of self-immolating feedback, loose wires and frayed nerves, all of which seems to build up to the symphony of electrical malfunctions that is 'Secret', a ten minute meditation on complete unpleasantness, niggling away at you with an unstable, waspish drone.
