Originally from 2003, this eponymous release from Hair Police (the fourth emergency service) finds them on fearsome form - particularly during the opening untitled trilogy of pieces, the third of which makes potent use of menacing periods of quiet to instill outright abject terror. The interplay between crumbling, low-levels of distortion and debris lulls you into a mild state of alarm before the more explicitly distressing clamour of 'Mortuary Servants' fires up, launching a full assault on the ears. Dark and fearsome, but by no means artless, this is a classic slab of free-electronics from America's subterranean noise scene.
