At the risk of repeating ourselves, Dave Huismans' finest work has largely been released under his alter ego pseudonym A Made Up Sound. There's plenty of room for raving about his 2562 records, because they're obviously brilliant, but as AMUS he crucially breathes new life into house and techno with a Detroit informed and defined vision like few others. For the first release on his self titled Clone sub-label, Huismans provides the essential 'Rework', expanding the cracks between broken beat, Detroit techno and dubstep with a wedge of churning subbass, a restless 3 note chord melody and purest dancing rhythms. Laid out on the flipside, 'Closer' is the deeper counterpoint, combining convective house-vocal stabs and climactic synths over clipped broken beats and a subtly muscular B-line in comparable style to Joy Orbison's 'Wet Look'. A total must-have for fans of Shake, Shed or Carl Craig - Essential Purchase!
