gescom - Gescom EP
For many of our customers, we'd imagine this release will rank as one of the most sought after and cherished pieces of electronic music in their collections (or, more likely, wants lists). Originally released back in 1994, this was the first fruit of the Gescom project, a clandestine collective featuring members of Autechre operating alongside various Skam notables like Rob Hall, Mike Williamson and Darryl Fitton (aka Bola), or contemporaries like Russell Haswell. But, you and I were never supposed to know that, and all those characters would probably still deny their involvement to this day, most likely taking exact details of who did what to their graves. At the time this was among the most advanced combinations of Detroit techno, electro, hiphop and electronics in the world, carving out their own peerless style in a time of fervent generic mutations, while resolutely sticking to the anonymous character format in a time when superstar producer/DJ egos were lending an unsavoury element to the newly developed rave universe. Their sound defies description so we'll leave it for those yet to discover it to make their own links, and for those already familiar, you can put your vinyl to sleep for a bit longer and dive into these pristine digital copies. Hugely recommended!
