matka - The Killer's Playground
Debut 12" from Matka following on from Creative Space's muderous styles from Ekalon this week. Matka's sound is for the dubstep and grimy techno hardcore, smashing cold steely beats with overcast atmospheres and a snarling attitude similar to label mates Starkey or Threnody's darker moments mixed with the grinding horror electro of MANASYt. The Ekaros remix on the flip is a choice pick for lovers of the Scorn/Combat records sound with highly polished dubstep mechanical beats given a reinforced coating of techno production. The real treat of the EP lies in Moving Ninja's beatless revision of 'Somnambulic' a sinister coma-trip through KTL style metallic drones and gloopy layers of subbass pressure, not for the faint hearted! If you've checked Moving Ninja before you'll be well into this.
