What's so immeasurably good about this second twelve from Deepchord's Echospace project is just how different it is from anything either Rod Modell or Steve Hitchell have produced in the past. B-side track"Empyrean" is surely the warmest, most loved track in this series - an analogue reggae reduction that revolves around the timeless sounds of a valve-operated organ and a steppa's vibe that's about as far removed from the anonymous techno templates of days gone by as can be. Having been road-tested to a throng of appreciative listeners at this year's Sonar Festival we can testify first-hand to the devastating effect this track will have played at appropriate volumes, it's truly a BASS masterpiece. Did we say how much we love this track? "Abraxas" on the A-side, meanwhile, is another classic dub variation in 4/4, the ghosts of Chain Reaction and Maurizio drenching the chords in washes of white noise, reverb and a seemingly endless delay - making for purist Berlin influenced techno of the highest order.
