ANDY STOTT
andy stott - Fear Of Heights EP
Andy stott appears to be on a mission to tap into as many low-end variants as his hectic touring schedule will allow, having just returned from a triumphant show at barcelona's sonar festival, freshly invigorated for summer. "Fear of heights" opens the a-side and is another stripped emission, a skeletal bass oscillation forms the backbone of the track while midnight chords wash into the mix and flutter alongside tempered hi-hats to create a heaving BASS classic. It's just too good. "Made your point" on the flipside is an altogether more rugged prospect and has been getting serious airplay these last couple of months, metallic shards drift into view evoking the spirit of monolake at his finest, or chain reaction's mighty "various artists", creating a hybrid sound that's somewhere between the developed neon variations of berlin's T++ (an artist whom even Shackleton and Appleblim's Skull Disco crew seem to be in awe of at the moment) and dubstep at its most ferocious and stripped. How can you describe this sound?? MURDER!!!
