Lord of the US funky house and broken beats scene, Karizma, drops the followup to his 2007 debut LP with 'A Mind Of Its Own V2.0 - The Upgrade'. If you didn't check his 'Groove A K Ordingly' 12" last year, you need to wake up, and if you did you'll probably find a lot to like on this well developed set of lushly feminine House rhythms. Recent single 'Drumz Nightmare' is a major highlight, while his swinging beatwork on the Kaytronik Brukitdown mix of 'Georgia' feat Taylor McFerrin is seriously worthy of closer scrutiny. The Detroit strings and strutting NYc bounce beat of 'How Fly This Life Is' will appeal to fans of deeper cats like Moodyman and co, and his edit of 4Hero's 'Look Inside' should get the broken soul crew creaming at the ears.
