shumi - Jump For Joy
This EP marks the first Kompakt outing by Cologne techno scenester Shumi, although the debutant does get a little help thanks to some co-production and mastering treatments from label mainstay Jorg Burger. Opening cut 'The End With No Beginning' gets the EP off to a start in a firm-footed if slightly unremarkable fashion, boasting a solid, nicely proportioned production but little in the way of narrative development. 'The Wind And The Sea' is where all that comes into play, offering some silky melodic functionality before title track 'Jump For Joy' hops on board with a touch of vocalising, upping the pop quotient to Superpitcher levels.
