For those that don't know, the first installment of the Beat Dimensions series introduced much of the world to beats from Hudson Mohawke, FLYamSAM, and Cinnaman. The second installment is now upon us and it's a belter, featuring cutting edge hip-hop-electronics from Nosaj Thing, Dalt Wisney, Danny Breaks and Mono/Poly. Since the release of the first plates the record buying world has gone slightly nutty for psyche-screwed hip-hop from the likes of Flylo, Rustie and Samiyam etc with labels like Hyperdub and Warp picking up on the sound, so if you're looking for the next ruck of hip-electronic dudes to check, this is probably a good place. Our picks from this plate have to be the crunked-to-fook 'FWD' from Nosaj Thing, or Kenlo Craqnuques mashed 'Zoîd' sounding like Caspa style dubstep done with a sneering hip-hop attitude instead of a rudeboy clubbers vibe. Recommended!
