Following on from the likes of Sir Richard Bishop, Ginnungagap, Grails, Ariel Pink and William Elliot Whitmore, the beautifully packaged CD contains four perfectly formed aural nuggets that showcase the talents of Jenny Hoyston (from Erase Errata) under her Paradise Island guise. How pop music would sound if all were right with the world, 'Seeing Spots' opens through the menotrome tick of 'Motions'; wherein a brittle electronic beat is savaged by echo-fed riffs and Hoyston's sugar dipped vocals that teeter on the fine-line between lament and intent. Keeping the mood suitably inflated, next track 'Bring Back Art' is just as impressionable, as a buzz-saw guitar takes chunks out of the drums, before 'Pedal Revolution' slows things down for a shuddering buck-shot of rock nourishment. Closing through a cover of the Grateful Dead's 'Terrapin Station', Latitudes has once again thrown up an indispensable (and damn limited) musical gem. Paradise found!
