Snares fans rejoice! One of electronic music's most uncomopromising practitioners turns his unsolicited attentions towards the much maligned genre of Acid Techno for his latest carer accompanied outing on Planet Mu. Well, we say Acid Techno but it's really only as a very loose theme to hold Mr Funk's helplessly spasticated rhythms together, in much the same way as his previous album looked at jungle, only to throw classic Amen breaks and ragga into the mix with the rest of his utterly twocked sounds. If you're a fully signed up member of the Snares fanclub tracks like 'Deep Dicking', 'Chainsaw Fellatio' or 'Splooj Guzzlers' have just sold you on the names alone, but for those yet to hand their enrollment forms in this is about as far out as it gets for acid techno electronica. Taking cues from some 20+ years of acid abuse from Phuture to Luke Vibert to Mark E.G and reforming them with his own spac-handed-savant approach this is the sound you might get if you trapped Florian Hecker in a lift with Chris Liberator and a violent monkey. Painfully unhinged dance music for the bravest ravers.
