mlz / pacou - Remixes
Absolutely mighty twelve featuring Modern Love stalwart MLZ and Tresor legend Pacou squaring off for a couple of mutual remix jobs for Pacou's on-form Cache imprint with sick results. MLZ tackles Pacou's 'Minus' originally from his 'Sound Of Thought' 12" in 1998, and reshapes it into an unbeleivably raw edged techno mover, with brittle hi-hats filtered into chilly textures and balanced by a thickened bassline and given that rich analogue definition that signifies the best of MLZ's production. The Pacou remix of 'NewAnalogueCentury' on the flip does justice to MLZ's awesome original, taking the liberty of extending the intro to cover the first half of the track and using the deep cut subs to keep it on course while working up a tempered storm of filtered dub chords and affecting atmospherics to build the drama before releasing a devastating bass throb to start the dance again in killer style. Awesome.
