jsbl - Twice Upon Two Times
Beguiling jazz fusions that have as much to do with quirky analogue synth experiments as they do any traditional elements you'd associate with the genre. 'Fooled By Needs' features some especially comical oscillators tweaks, all helping to offset the tightly organised funk of the rhythm section. 'The Flu' is a little more freely flowing, but throughout JSBL's music retains a very composed feel, only occasionally digressing into solo sequences. Add into the mix a very strange and off-kilter dub-inflected cut like 'Mann Mit Den Schwankungen' and you're left with a very intriguing release indeed.
