Latest split 7" on Awkward Silence unites two of the UK's most interesting solo artists; Cathode (Steve Jefferis) and Ojn (aka Landshipping aka John Brenton) and both offer brand new and exclusive tracks. Electronic knob twiddler Cathode brings us 'This Just In', a strong track bursting with subtle beats and melodies, which he describes as being "somewhere inbetween Múm-style glitchy melodies, the usual clicky Cathode rhythms, and a My Bloody Valentine-style wall of noise" Ojn, the new name for instrumental releases from Landshipping. The first composition, 'Solanki', is a gentle dubby bass line at the heart of the track, wrapped in quiet synth washes with minimal piano notes interspersed. The second track, 'Meridians', is a very beautiful little collection of sounds, including gentle guitar, 'The Sounds Of The Sea' and some amazing noises from the same synth that gave Metrotone's 'Kiss Me Awake' it's classic sound.
