Post-industrial electronic noise from Russian duo Pavel Jagun and Alexei Borisov, recorded between 1992 and 1993. This is heavy, searing stuff, with clear links to both the punk influences of the new wave and more academic, experimental music. Despite their dessert-evoking, fruity titles, 'Lemon Skin' and 'Raspberry Puree' are hardly a light, pleasant experience. Instead both pieces help establish a tone of terrorising, building tension governed by dense, artfully crafted oscillations and gutteral scraping sounds. 'Public Papier Mache' has a sound that brings to mind Bernard Parmegiani in its dissection of electroacoustic timbres, while 'Blue Rice' is more of a regularly shaped, rhythmic beast, driven by resonant, droning dub tones. Excellent.
