noxagt / ultralyd - Firebird / The Smell Of Incest
Coming around just in time to bask in some of the critical praise generated by Noxagt’s new full length on Load, this edition of Textile’s very collectible ‘Vynile Serie’ features two of Norway’s finest acts – Noxagt and Ultralyd. Both bands seem to travel in similar circles and Anders Hana (MoHa!, Jaga Jazzist) has his hands dipped deeply into each (he only does mastering on these Noxagt recordings, but now he’s their lead guitarist) so it’s no surprise seeing them together on a 12”. It’s also no surprise that the quality of this material is exemplary, Noxagt provide a selection of early recordings and sessions and Ultralyd donate some new material and although it's not as coherent as their incredible album works, it stands tall as noisy, brash and most importantly fun! That’s what’s usually forgotten about this kind of noisy math-metal, it’s not just beardy guys trying to get chicks, it’s fun and rawkus and goes down just peachy with a pint of vodka.
