tomutonttu - Tomutonttu
Tomutonttu is the solo project of Kemialliset Ystavat member Jan Anderzen, who doesn't really break form from his Fonal dayjob (ha, like that's a dayjob) horsing around with all manner of pots and pans, primitive instruments and unmistakably Finnish 'vibes' and noodling. If that doesn't sound terribly insightful, then... good. As with so much of the underground psychedelia coming out of Finland you'd have a job pinning down a more meaningful analysis, mostly because there really isn't much in the way of meaning floating around the mix. Instrumental performances (seldom in the same key) waft around aimlessly, while melodies clash horribly in a fashion that's half spooky, half funny. If fellow Finns the Moomins made an LP with the Judderman off that old Metz advert, this is almost certainly what it would sound like. That statement is also applicable to virtually every other subterranean psych/folk record that's been made in Finland over the past five years or so. Let's face it: you already know whether or not you're going to like this. You will, incidentally.
