Trailing in the success of the two recent 10"s, Bristol system rockers Henry and Louis drop a heavyweight 15 track Lp of primed roots rockers material for 2 Kings. The two recent 10"s are included here in dub and vocal formats, but it's the welath of new material that makes this album definitely worht a look in. Relying on old school dub production techniques gleaned from Bristol's fertile reggae heritage and with respectful nods to Scientist, Jah Shaka and local legend Rob Smith (of Smith & Mighty), Henry and Louis aka Andy Scholes and Jack Lundie produce an authentic and highly effective update on the stripped roots rockers style drawing close parallels to movements in Dub Techno and dubstep with fully charged bassline rolls and dubbed to f*ckery 4/4 rhythms mostly hovering between 120-140bpm. The whole affair is made that little bit sweeter with concious vocal contributions from Justin Griffith and various Bristol MCs, adding a layer of depth that's often missing in it's sister styles. Any fans of Rhythm and Sound's DJ sets, wicked bass music, or the general Bristol bass vibes from Pinch/Peverelist etc. need to give this a run. Heavy!
