Boomkat product review for:

clock dva - Post-Sign

**Vintage, previously unheard, mid-'90s sci-fi techno/electronics. Embossed DVD digipak case with 28-page colour booklet** Nearly twenty years after 'Sign' - their last release with Italian label, Contempo - Adi Newton finally presents the results of ClockDVA's studio sessions in Florence & Milan circa 1994/95 on 'Post-Sign'. Due to undisclosed "circumstantial events" these tracks were shelved, intended as an instrumental companion to 'Signs', yet they ultimately languished in the archive until now. The recordings were inspired by then-recently exposed details on the darker aspects of NASA's Mercury project - implications of data gleaned from early Nazi research, classified UFO information, Masons, and so forth, all detailed in the accompanying booklet - and very neatly slips into that whole mid-'90s X-Files vibe, mixing classic sci-fi samples with sweeping digital synth sorcery and rippling electro-techno rhythms also recalling classic AI output of The Black Dog or Luke Slater's 7th Plain. It's a pleasure to hear this finally come around, and it's well recommended to fans of that classic early techno sound when it was absorbing the best elements of EBM, Detroit, and Trance musics and maturing into that sleeker, atmospheric European sound.
