nosaj thing - Home (Album)
One of North America's most promising electronic musicians presents a highly anticipated sophomore album. Since 2008 Jason Chung's Nosaj Thing beats have appeared everywhere from the Beat Dimensions comps to remixes of The xx and Philip Glass. Kazu Makino of Blonde Redhead makes one of the LP's two cameos beside Toro Y Moi's appearance on the rather lovely downbeat 'Try', while the rest is of that cinematic instrumental calibre his legion of followers have come to love and expect from him. We're especially feeling the mercurial, Mark Fell-like rhythms of 'Glue' and the plastic malleability of his subs and neck-crack drums on 'Snap', and we expect the likes of 'Phase III' and its soulful organ motif or the Burial-meets-Four Tet-and-Thom Yorke styles of 'Safe' and 'Distance' to become firm fan favourites.
