kluster - Eruption
**Reissue of a legendary krautrock milestone** Let's set the record straight. Although listed officially as 'Schwarz', Konrad Schnitzler's first album, this LP 'Eruption' is in fact the last in a trio of albums by his former group, Kluster, comprising himself, Hans-Joachim Roedelius and Dieter Moebius: the commonly perceived error stems from the fact that Schnitzler funded the album and pressed it under his own name. So, that sorted, welcome to a true milestone in krautrock and electronic music history. After two previous records, the trio hunkered down to a totally instrumental style, revelling in pure electronic sound and effected instruments. Much of the material stems from live performances - one of them pictured on the inner sleeve - which were later overdubbed and split into panoramic stereo by the group's fourth member and engineer, Klaus Freudigmann, who stitched together their live celestial abstractions into something wonderfully, wilfully alien and richly evocative. We can hear the roots of so, so much improvised and electronic music in this record. It's massively recommended.
