Boomkat product review for:

cassetteboy - Festive Christmas

Festive yuletide bullshit, the first available material from Cassetteboy since their infamous sold out single that came out in 2000. Originally done last Christmas as a very limited edition of 25 CDR’s for journos and scrounging industry types only, Barry thought it would be a shame not to cynically cash in while the boys are overseas. As you would expect, the single has a cut and paste style, with 20 minutes of all the old Christmas favourites you can think of (Slade, Quo, Wham, Wombles etc..) making an appearance including a particularly offensive tirade from good old Cliff Richard. Making his debut as a guest on the single is upONEY, whose track here was being caned last year by Weatherall + Tenniswood on their Haywire Sessions show on Groovetech. With a distinctive style (well, several actually), this new hip-hop talent should go a long way & definitely one to watch in 2002. Limited to 500 copies only.
