plastikman - Sheet One (Remastered)
*2012 Reissue by Mute with the original artwork and fully remastered audio* Leafing all the way back to the first page, 'Sheet One' was the first glimpse we got of Plastikman - Richie Hawtin's legendary alter-ego and purveyor of some now priceless miminal techno wares. A masterclass in restraint, 'Sheet One' is rightly lauded a bench-mark in electronic music production - representing as it does the focal point where the 303 was left to its own devices rather than being another face in the crowd. Whilst undoubtedly more suited to the up-close environs of your iPod, 'Sheet One' is no po-faced exercise in cleverclogstronica - with the likes of 'Gak' laser-primed for the more chilly dance floor. Elsewhere, tracks like 'Koma', 'Drp' and 'Glob' see Hawtin irreverently fusing Chicago acid and steel-city techno to hypnotic and addictive effect. If you don't already own this, save your blushes here...
