hans appelqvist - Sjunga Slutet Nu
Exquisite, dreamily surreal soundtrack work by composer Hans Appelqvist. Set to the film of the same title 'Sjuna Slutet Nu (Sing The End Now)', it's apparently about "…the angst and silencing of death and the meeting with the final end", a feeling which manifests itself through fairy tale-like and non-linear narrative structure, left open-ended to mirror the dreamlike atmosphere of the flick itself. Unfortunately we haven't seen the film so we can only take that fact on trust from the label, but listening to this now, we could easily imagine it tracing a story where "talking levitating spheres seem as ordinary as man."Over it's course, the album wends between mostly instrumental segments of feathered acoustic guitar, embellished with some sparing electronics, to delicious moments of folksong incorporating dialogue and background sounds from the film, like with the enchanting 'Vissen & Sot' and swooning 'How Come'. We can easily see some types becoming totally smitten with it all, and it's definitely put the movie on our "to watch" list. A genuine delight.
