lindstrøm - Six Cups Of Rebel
Hans-Peter Lindstrom's fourth album is an undeniably titanic affair destined for the modern disco. Part Deep Purple-ish prog ebullience and part intergalactic dance fuel, 'Six Cups Of Rebel' is his most mature and coherent long player, informed by a decade of production experience and an invaluable dancefloor education drawing upon lessons learnt from vintage Baldelli and Beppe Loda mixes. It's sophisticated to the core, from the magnificent cascade of organs on opener 'No Release' to the adventurous ten minute polyrhythmic trek of closer 'Hina', and also brimming with a eager freshness, manifested in the innovative, rather OPN-like use of vocoders and his own vocals which lend a sense psychedelic freedom to the head-spinning 'Magik' and a unique strangeness to the eccentric swagger of 'Quiet Place To Live'. Simply, it's just set the mark for any disco/leftfield dancefloor albums in 2012.
