**CD/DVD with booklet insert written by David Toop and download coupon redeemable from the label** Shitkatapult present a bountiful multimedia CD/DVD by visionary and radical musician Markus Popp aka Oval. 'DNA' comprises a 25 track audio CD, plus a DVD containing 2000+ soundfiles, OvalDNA software, documentations and ten bonus .wav files, together marking one of his most ambitious and substantial releases to date. The CD was originally intended to to appear before his 'O' album and conclude his dedicated electronic phase and shift into more acoustic manipulation. It features material composed and recorded between 1997 and after the aforementioned 'O' in 2010, spanning 13 years of idiosyncratic and hugely influential output. The DVD is essentially like an Open Source Manifesto, containing the SoundBrowser/Sequenzer-Software OvalDNA and more than 2,000 Oval Sounds from various phases of Popp's work as individual AIFF files intended for use by music producers without copyright restriction. This is a brilliant reminder of just how important and distinctly unique Popp's process-oriented work is, and also a masterclass in mixing austere formalism and subtle, unforgettably "musical" elements.
